(weewerk) is an independent record label, artist management, and promotions company based in Toronto, Canada.
(weewerk) was founded in November 2002 as a series of art-and-music salon events organized by visual artist / curator Germaine Koh and indie-rock defender Phil Klygo (Skull Geek, teenage USA recordings, Canadian Music Week) in their Toronto apartment above cool indie music store, Rotate This on influential and cultural edgy Queen St. West.
The underground spirit of the (weewerk) endeavour quickly drew a devoted and wide-ranging following. As an extension of their DIY ethos, (weewerk) helped alt-folk artist Great Lake Swimmers release their haunting self-titled debut album in March 2003, and were immediately heralded as a fresh new record label within the independent Canadian music world.
Since then (weewerk) has continued to be active as a record label releasing music by the following unique roster of talented and creative artists; Chairmen Of The Boards, Great Lake Swimmers, Picastro, Art Bergmann, The Burning Hell, Fembots, Ox, Elliott Brood, Jon-Rae Fletcher, Harmonica, Two-Minute Miracles, Don Brownrigg, Canteen Knockout, The Barmitzvah Brothers, Proof Of Ghosts, United Steel Workers of Montreal, and more.
The most recent album release was Picastro’s latest record “Exit”on February 24th, 2020 as well as their new single “Where Are You” & “Thursday” on March 6th, 2020
(weewerk) has been the manager of Great Lake Swimmers since 2006 when they signed to Nettwerk. Phil Klygo continues to assist this exceptional artist in gaining a larger audience around the world. Most recently (weewerk) released the Great Lake Swimmers new single “Getting To The Heart Of It” on March 6th, 2020.
